Mind Your Manners, B.B. Wolf

This week, we talked about magic words and how they help us to be polite. In Whoopi’s Big Book of Manners by Whoopi Goldberg, we talked about all the different things we can do to be polite and considerate of other people, like covering our mouth when we cough or not talking in a movie theater. We learned some magic words that should be used a lot, like “please” and “thank you.” In Judy Sierra’s Mind Your Manners, B.B. Wolf the big bad wolf (now enjoying his retirement at the Villain Villa) is invited to a tea party at the library. But he’ll have to learn some manners if he wants to attend…

After our stories, we danced to Jim Gill’s “Silly Dance Contest” and “Spaghetti Legs.”

After our dance break, we all sat on the floor and played a sandwich stacking game.

We played by picking a card showing what kind of sandwich to make. When we decided which sandwich filling went next, each child took a turn finding that ingredient and place it on the sandwich. There are lots of other ways to play, too.

After spending some time playing with Play-Doh, we started on our craft, a big bad wolf puppet:

I drew the template we used because I wanted something that would be relatively easy to cut. There are several free templates available online, though.

Next time, we’ll read about pigs and find out whether their manners are good or bad.
